IEC60529 defines the degree of protection against the intrusion of solids and liquids in electric devices. Hitachi all-in-one cameras are designed to IP Protection Ratings IP65 to IP66, the ratings for devices with high weather resistance in adverse installation environments.
* Protection against solids (e.g., dusts) (the first digit in "IPxx")
| IP4x | A probe of 1mm diameter cannot intrude. |
| IP5x (dust-proof) |
Non-perfect protection against dust intrusion, which, however, does
not result in harmful effects on the device. This rating assumes the use of devices under adverse conditions. |
| IP6x (full protection against dust) |
Perfect protected against dust intrusion. This rating assumes the use of devices under adverse conditions and also the protection of precision equipment. |
* Protection against liquids (The second digit of "IPxx")
| IPx5 (protection against water jets) |
No harmful effects on the equipment against water jets in all
directions. This rating assumes protection against water other than submersion. |
| IPx6 (water-tight design) |
No leak of water inside the device against water jets in all directions. This rating assumes protection against water other than submersion. |
| IPx7 (submersion-resistant design) |
No leak of water inside the equipment against submersion under
specified conditions. Submersion is assumed. However, no underwater use is assumed. |
For installation in coastal areas, cameras of simple salt-resistant design are optionally available. Also, for installation in cold areas, cold-weather specification models are available.

High-speed rotation and zooming capabilities of the camera system allow its lens to point to the desired target quickly and certainly. Also, with the use of the preset controller, up to 256 surveillance points can be preprogrammed.
