Receives “Best Product Award” from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Ltd. (TSMC)

TOKYO, Japan, On December 4 (Local Time), Hitachi Kokusai Electric (President: Manabu Shinomoto) receives “Best Product Awards” from TSMC (Headquarters: Hsinchu, Taiwan; Chairman and Chief Executive Officer: Dr. Morris Chang ) who is the most largest semiconductor manufacturing foundry*1 in the world. It becomes third times received award from TSMC ,first time at 2006, 2008 and consecutively for two year this 2009. The awards was presented at Supply Chain Management Forum*2 at Hsinchu city at the same day.

Our “Best Product Awards” was presented to our excellent performance and quality of Vertical Diffusion and CVD furnace which was specially recognized its contribution to TSMC by not only for Hardware and process but also for whole items such like sales to after service. Based on background of its most advanced wafer process technologies and prominent manufacturing abilities, TSMC show more stronger presence in semiconductor industry as foundry and starts and growth 40nm advanced generation’s manufacturing this year in spite of recent economics situation. Hitachi Kokusai Electric has installed many Vertical diffusion and CVD furnaces and Single wafer annealing tools for advanced generation manufacturing in TSMC and it is quite honor to win this awards among many suppliers who worked with TSMC. Hitachi Kokusai Electric will continuously build still stronger relationship with customer in the future and challenge for positive developments of sales and service in the global scale as a company who engaged in semiconductor industry and challenge contribution to the industry.

*1	Foundry: Company operates a semiconductor fab for the purpose of manufacturing semiconductor for other companies, such as fabless semiconductor companies.
*2	SuppyChain Management Forum : Supplier general meeting that is carried out by TSMC once a year. 410 companies participate from various countries in the world in this year’s forum.
